Just One Charm Pack Quilts Book Hop from Dizzy Quilts

Over the years, I've made many quilts from patterns designed by Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs. When Cheryl asked me if I would be willing to participate in the Book Hop organized to celebrate her latest book Just One Charm Pack Quilts, I didn't hesitate to accept!

All of the quilts in the book can be made from just one charm pack, an accent and a background fabric. The sizes ranges from baby quilts to small lap size.

The quilt I made from the book is the 9-Patch Challenge.

For my version of 9-Patch Challenge, I used ...

stash report June 20, 2021 from Making A Lather

Happy Father's Day! I married a good one. He was right in the trenches with me. He changed diapers, cleaned up yukky things, went to all the events, held them, carried them, taught them. He was right there with me. He was better with them in the night - I was a zombie. And so far, he is good with all my fabric.

And I have some new treasures. They were on sale.

Green fairy had mystery honey buns and I love honey buns.

stash report June 13, 2021 from Making A Lather

I attended a sleep in your own bed retreat this weekend and there was a free table. I haven't had a chance to count what came home. ( I was really really tired). Unfortunately, the table was on the way to the restroom, and, right next to the food. I remember, I found purple, and florals which I was looking to add to my stash. My table buddy was a good girl for her stash, but, kept bringing me fabric she thought I needed. haha

I can always use neutrals

and blues

new quilt project from Making A Lather

I had a great sew day Saturday with our guild. I planned on starting a new project that came recently from Missouri star. I don't remember how I saw this kit, but, I think it was on you tube. The charm squares are from Africa as a free enterprise sort of cooperation with Missouri Star, I don't have anything like this, it looked easy, and it was something new.

Saturday, I spent a little bit sewing the first round of black to the charm squares. Then, I took a break for sewing borders for a quilt, and lunch ...

Stash report February 28, 2021 from Making A Lather

I had a chance to buy 4 of the same charm pack in red and blue. It was a closeout sale somewhere. They are blender type of patterns and I thought I would be able to use them. Although, I can't seem to open any of my charm packs - they are too "special"

Happy Valentine's day

The navy fabric is a wide back I needed for a quilt. I could piece something, but, I am getting lazy. The other two pieces were from the thrift store. The first I have seen in a long time.

Stash report February 7, 2021 from Making A Lather

At one point, I thought I was going to make economy blocks using 5 inch squares, and these packs are bright and cheery. I haven't made any, thinking I have too much on my plate, as it is. Time will tell.

5 inch scraps from Making A Lather

I had a box of recycled shirts that I wanted to cut for quilt patterns I am hoping to make. I had already taken the shirts apart, so, I made a box for each size I wanted to cut, 10 inch, 5 inch, 2 1/2, 3 1/2, 2. I decided to cut largest to smallest, so, that, the leftovers can be fed into the smaller sizes. I cut 10 inches. I used the front of the shirt without the pocket for 10 inch squares. The front with the pocket, I put in the box for 5 inch squares ...

The Toddler Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

Back in April, I told you about a stack of charm square packs I found in my sewing room and how I wanted to use them up. I did make a few charm square quilts over the last few months and I would like to share with you my latest one!

This is the Toddler Quilt by Patty Wright for the Moda Bakeshop. I made this pattern once before, for a work friend's baby boy. It is really fun to sew up and really quick too.

I used charm squares from the Simply Style collection by V and Co ...

to do: try something new from Making A Lather

I found this great tutorial here, and, I just had to try it. I used 8 charm squares that were just hanging around, and using a 4 patch method, I made 8 hour glass blocks. Now, I want to drop everything and make more.

We packed pbjs, and, after zoom church, went to seven pillars recreational area about 40 minutes north of us Sunday. It was someplace I had never been, and, I sure enjoyed the views and putting my feet in the water.

tile blocks from Making A Lather

I was intrigued with an antique tile quilt. And, Suzies scraps tutorial on tile blocks made easy. Suzie  blogs here. The quilt block uses charm squares and a 9 patch. I had a charm pack and some 5 inch squares that I thought would blend well together, so, I gave it a try. I switched parts of the blocks of  2 squares. I might like it better if I switch parts with more than 2. It is a big block that needs trimming, so, I think it will make a quick donation quilt.

I have found some cute blocks and ...

A Charming Christmas from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Summertime is almost here so that means the new collections of Christmas fabrics will be arriving in the stores soon.

So it is the perfect timing for the Fat Quarter Shop to release another one of their shortcut quilt patterns.  This festive project uses Charm Packs.

The Fat Quarter Shop asked me which Christmas collection I wanted to use and I picked Little Tree by Lella Boutique.  I knew it was going to look great with the White Grunge fabric I wanted to use for the background.

And here is my finished quilt!
Isn't it fun?

This shortcut pattern ...

to do: something new from Making A Lather

I uncovered a small box with 6 inch squares. I believe, I bought it at a quilt show garage sale. I often wonder what the original quilter was planning and thinking while cutting her fabric into squares.
By donating her scraps, she has brought pleasure to my little world.
I didn't want to cut them down to 5 inch squares, but, I did look for inspiration in the charm pack patterns. I would just make the squares bigger, and, then, the quilt would be bigger.

I thought the squares looked coordinated enough, to just use them scrappy.  The squares ...

Wake Me Up Quilt Finish from Dizzy Quilts

When I found the Wake Me Up Quilt by Emma Jean Janson, I was immediately drawn to it because of the amazing scrappiness possibilities! I'm still trying to get through my huge, huge scrap piles - does anyone ever get "through" their scrap piles? - so I'm always on the lookout for simple, fun scrap quilt patterns.

I was a little bit afraid using many different scraps would look like a hot mess, but I'm pretty pleased with the results.

I really like working with scraps - it's almost like a trip down memory lane during which I get ...

A Weekender Finish from Dizzy Quilts

At the risk of sounding like a one-trick pony, I made another charm square quilt. I'd forgotten how much fun these are to sew - there is usually very little cutting and all the fabrics go together well! The quilt I'm sharing with you today is from a pattern I've used once before, almost 8 years go now. It's from another tutorial from the Moda Bakeshop (I used to get most of the patterns I sewed from the Moda Bakeshop back in the day).

Just like many of the charm packs I've used recently, these colours ...

Line Dance Quilt Finish from Dizzy Quilts

I'm back with yet another charm square quilt! I can't believe how many of those charm packs I still have in my stash - many of which I probably will never use. However, I just love the colours in this one - Summersville Spring by Lucie Summers for Moda.

The pattern is one I downloaded forever ago from the Moda Bakeshop - it is called "Line Dance" and was designed by Kathy Mack from Pink Chalk Studios. This was a really quick quilt to sew together, especially if you don't over-think the placement of each charm square. I think I ...

Charm Pack Fun from Magpie Quilts

Every once in a while, the sewing room needs to get a little clean up and organization. For me, this can happen at many different times through the year but always results in increased productivity. I try to sew on 2-3 days during the week, sometimes only for a short time, but other days I sew much longer.
Packaging mini kits
When I'm cleaning up and folding fabrics and putting them back where they belong, I will often see a combination of fabrics that I might have an idea for. I'll put those fabrics together, take the time ...
